Importing a Used Excavator from China to Thailand: 6 Questions, Answered

Excavators are the largest category on this site — 1,278 units listed today, every one model-year 2016 to 2026. These are the six questions Thai buyers ask most before importing a used excavator from China, answered with the numbers behind the current listings.

Can you import a used excavator from China into Thailand?

Yes. As a practical rule, keep to machines within 10 years old, and all 1,278 excavators listed here are model-year 2016–2026, so every one sits inside that line and imports most smoothly. The 10-year line maps to Thailand's BOI (Board of Investment) duty tiers: under 5 years old earns duty exemption and counts toward investment value, and 5–10 years imports normally. The listed fleet has a median of about 5,110 working hours; buyers importing under a promoted BOI project can ask us to prioritise younger units.

How much does a used excavator cost, landed in Thailand?

The indicative DDP price landed in Bangkok has a median of about THB 975,000, across a full range of THB 91,000 to 9,425,000. The range is this wide because it spans everything from a few-tonne mini excavator at the low end to a 30-tonne-plus large machine near the top, with the common 20-tonne class around the middle. Every unit is priced on inquiry, because each used machine is one of a kind and the DDP figure already includes taxes and logistics.

Which brands and sizes are available?

The 1,278 units come from eight main brands: Sany (274), XCMG (183), Caterpillar (176), Komatsu (94), LiuGong (90), SDLG (88), Volvo (76) and Hyundai (45) — Chinese workhorses such as Sany, XCMG, LiuGong and SDLG alongside Japanese, US, European and Korean marques like Komatsu, Caterpillar, Volvo and Hyundai. Sizes run from mini and small excavators, through the mid-size machines contractors use most, to large 30-tonne-plus units; filter by tonnage on the site to see what is listed in each class.

How long from order to delivery in Bangkok?

Usually a matter of weeks — plan on roughly 4 to 6 weeks, subject to sailing schedule and customs clearance. Read it in three stages: pre-shipment inspection and export clearance in China, the sea leg from South China to Laem Chabang (typically one to two weeks), then Thai clearance and inland delivery. The confirmed door-to-site date comes with your quote, because it depends on where the unit sits in China and on container availability — we do not pretend to a precise day in advance.

How is the machine inspected, and can I trust it?

There are two acceptance gates, the deal closes only on a pass, and title transfers only after you accept. Gate one, in China before loading: the unit is viewed on site, photographed from standard angles and put through a multi-point mechanical check; only units that pass are containerised. Gate two, in Thailand: the machine is delivered to our 4,000 m² Bangkok showroom, where you verify it item by item against the deal sheet on video before the balance is paid and title transfers. If it does not match the report, you do not have to accept it.

Why is the price by inquiry rather than a fixed sticker?

Because each used machine is one of a kind, so the landed DDP price has to be set per unit on its actual condition. Price mostly turns on tonnage, brand, model year and hours, while the DDP figure bundles sea freight, customs at both ends, Thai duty and VAT, inland transport and the platform service fee — all of which move with the model and destination. The site therefore shows an indicative landed price; send an inquiry on a specific unit and we return a firm price delivered to your site in Thailand, based on its real condition.
