Used Road Roller Prices 2026: XCMG XS163J, SANY SSR200 and LiuGong CLG6114E — China Market Rates and DDP to Thailand

Short answer: in 2026, a sound 16-tonne-class used single-drum vibratory roller trades in the Chinese used market at roughly RMB 120,000-260,000 (about USD 17,000-36,000), and lands at a Thai jobsite at approximately USD 24,000-46,000 all-in DDP once dismantling, freight, customs and taxes are included. For comparison, a new Chinese-brand roller of the same class costs around USD 65,000-85,000 delivered in Thailand, so a properly inspected used unit is typically 30-50% of new. The 12-14 tonne class (XCMG XS143J, LiuGong CLG6114E) sits a further 25-35% below that. Tandem asphalt rollers in the 8-11 tonne class are a separate price line, covered below.

Three model lines dominate ASEAN jobsites: XCMG XS163J/XS203J, the SANY SSR200 series, and LiuGong CLG6114E/CLG6122E — all single-drum vibratory machines for earthworks and sub-base compaction. The XS163J has a 16-tonne operating weight and a 2,130 mm drum, usually powered by a Shangchai SC8D190G2B1 or a Dongfeng Cummins rated around 140 kW; the SSR200 series is 20-tonne class and commonly runs a Cummins QSB6.7. Asphalt wearing courses need a different machine entirely: tandem double-drum rollers (XCMG XD82/XD122, the SANY STR series, plus used European units such as the BOMAG BW211D-40 and Dynapac CA251) in the 8-11 tonne class, normally paired with a pneumatic tyre roller for final passes. Decide whether you are compacting sub-base or finishing asphalt before you argue about brands — that choice matters far more.

Prices tier by year and hours. A 16-tonne machine from 2013-2015 with over 6,000 hours typically sits at RMB 120,000-160,000; 2016-2018 with 3,000-6,000 hours at RMB 160,000-210,000; 2019 or newer under 3,000 hours at RMB 210,000-260,000 or above. Rollers differ from excavators in one important way: their annual hours are naturally low, and a genuine 2016 unit often shows only 3,000-6,000 hours. Low hours are therefore not a selling point on a roller — they are a reason to look harder. Low hours combined with a polished, worn drum and collapsed rubber buffers usually means the hour meter has been touched.

Inspect in this order to save time. First, the exciter and vibration bearings: engage vibration and listen at both drum ends, testing high and low amplitude separately. This is the most expensive failure on a roller — an exciter rebuild runs about USD 3,000-6,000 in Southeast Asia. Second, the drum shell: measure wear and look for weld repairs and out-of-round. A re-welded drum warrants a steep discount, since a replacement drum costs close to half the price of the used machine. Third, the rubber isolation buffers: collapsed or cracked mounts transmit vibration straight into the frame and crack the frame and mounting legs. A set costs about USD 500-1,200, but on a machine that ran with failed buffers, inspect the frame welds as well. Fourth, travel motors and the hydrostatic drive: run a loaded climb and roll-back test on a slope — weak travel or pulling to one side usually points to the motor or pump. Fifth, articulation pins and steering cylinders: swing lock-to-lock and check for play. Sixth, the water spray system: pump, nozzles and internal tank corrosion — essential if you are running asphalt.

On import, rollers fall under HS 8429.40. Thai import duty is generally in the 0-5% band with 7% VAT, and a China-ASEAN FTA certificate of origin (FORM E) can be used to claim the preferential rate; the exact figure depends on tariff classification at clearance. The '10-year age line' buyers often cite comes from BOI Announcement 6/2558: machines under 5 years old qualify for duty exemption under a BOI project and count toward investment value; 5-10 years may be imported but does not count; over 10 years is still importable, simply without exemption and usually requiring a machine performance certificate. Most Thai road and bridge contractors are not BOI enterprises, so in this category the practical age constraint is far looser than most buyers assume.

On the freight side of a DDP quote, moving a 16-tonne single-drum roller from inland China to a Thai jobsite typically costs USD 4,500-7,000. The machine measures roughly 6.0 x 2.3 x 3.0 m at 16-17 tonnes, which exceeds standard container internal height, so the normal method is to remove the canopy or ROPS and ship in a 40ft open-top or flat rack, or to move the complete machine by RORO vessel. Ocean transit is one to two weeks; with loading, booking and destination clearance, door to door is usually 4-6 weeks. We quote DDP only — sea freight, clearance, duty, VAT and the final trucking leg bundled into a single number — because destination charges and over-height trucking vary widely between ports. For a quote on a specific unit, send us the model, year, hour range, whether the work is sub-base or asphalt, and your delivery address; we will screen the Chinese supply and include an inspection report with a vibration test.
