Used Mini Excavator Prices 2026: 6-Tonne Sany SY60C, XCMG XE60D, Sunward SWE60E — China Market Prices, DDP Cost to Thailand, and Why Minis Halve Your Freight

Short answer: in 2026, a sound Chinese 6-tonne mini excavator built 2018-2021 with 3,000-6,000 hours and no major overhaul (Sany SY60C, XCMG XE60D, Sunward SWE60E, Yuchai YC60-8, Lingong E660F) trades in the Chinese used market at roughly RMB 70,000-130,000 (about USD 9,800-18,200). Shipping it DDP from China to a Thai site (ocean freight, clearance, duty and VAT, inland haulage) adds approximately USD 4,000-5,500, putting the delivered all-in price mostly between USD 14,000 and USD 23,000. Japanese-built machines of the same class (Komatsu PC56-7, Kobelco SK55SR, Yanmar ViO55-6, Kubota U-55) already cost 30-60% more in China and land at about USD 20,000-33,000 DDP. Below this class, the 3.5-tonne size (Sany SY35U, XCMG XE35U) runs roughly 30-40% cheaper; above it, the 8-tonne size (Sany SY75C, Komatsu PC78US) runs 35-55% dearer. For comparison, a new Chinese-brand 6-tonne machine delivered in Thailand costs about USD 38,000-48,000, so a properly inspected used unit is typically 35-50% of new. These are market reference bands; the binding number is the post-inspection quote.

Specification basics to settle before asking for a price: the 6-tonne class has an operating weight of 5.8-6.5 tonnes, usually a Yanmar 4TNV94L, Isuzu 4LE2 or Yunnei D19 engine rated at 35-40 kW, a 0.2-0.25 m3 standard bucket, maximum digging depth around 3.8-4.0 m and maximum reach around 6.2-6.5 m. In ASEAN this size has a narrow, high-volume set of jobs: trenching in rubber and oil palm plantations, farm irrigation work, municipal water and drainage trenches, building foundations and pile breaking, and desilting fish and shrimp ponds. What actually sells the class is not dig speed but mobility — a 6-tonne machine moves between sites on an ordinary six-wheel truck or a light trailer on provincial roads, with no heavy low-bed and no oversize transport permit of the kind a 20-tonne machine needs. One crew can work two sites in a day, and on small scattered contracts that converts directly into revenue. On options, check three things: whether it has a dozer blade (90% of drainage work needs one), whether it is plumbed for a hydraulic breaker (retrofitting costs about USD 800-1,500), and whether the tracks are rubber or steel.

The landed-cost structure of a mini is fundamentally different from a 20-tonne machine, because a mini fits in a container and a 20-tonne machine does not. A 6-tonne excavator has a transport footprint of roughly 5.5 x 1.98 m, and a 40HQ container has 12.03 m of internal length, so two machines load nose-to-tail in one box and ocean freight plus handling works out at about USD 500-900 per machine. A 20-tonne machine has to move breakbulk or RoRo at USD 2,000-3,000 for the ocean leg alone, and a 36-tonne machine at USD 3,500-5,000. There is one hard constraint to verify in advance: the 40HQ door opening is 2.58 m high, while a cabbed mini excavator commonly stands 2.55-2.72 m tall. Anything over 2.55 m will not clear the door, so it either moves on a flat rack (adding roughly USD 400-700) or the boom or upper structure is removed and refitted. We check the actual transport height of the specific machine before quoting rather than working from the manufacturer's brochure dimensions. The rest of the DDP build-up: clearance and documentation about USD 350-650; on duty, with a valid China-ASEAN FTA certificate of origin (Form E), HS 8429.52 normally attracts the 0% preferential rate, and without Form E the MFN rate applies; VAT at 7% of the CIF-plus-duty value; and inland haulage from Laem Chabang to Bangkok, Rayong or Nakhon Ratchasima at about USD 350-650, since a mini rides on an ordinary trailer at roughly half the cost of a 20-tonne move. Rates move with the exchange rate, sailing schedule and destination, so the current quote governs at signing.

Age and BOI: minis sit under the same HS 8429.52 heading as full-size excavators and follow the same rules. Thailand has no blanket age ban on used construction machinery. The so-called 10-year line comes from BOI Announcement 6/2558: machines under 5 years old qualify for duty exemption and count toward the investment value; those 5-10 years old can be imported and used but do not count toward investment; those over 10 years old remain legally importable and usable but get no exemption and generally require a machine performance certificate. For this class the arithmetic is friendlier than for big excavators: a 2018-2021 machine is 5-8 years old in 2026, landing squarely in the usable-but-not-counted band, and there is decent supply of low-hour post-2022 machines under 5 years old for roughly 25-40% more budget if the unit has to count toward a BOI investment. If you are a BOI-promoted company, confirm the manufacturing date rather than the registration date — on used minis the two are commonly six to eighteen months apart. Separately, machinery in Thailand can be registered with the Department of Industrial Works under the Machinery Registration Act for use as loan collateral; this is not a precondition for import, but buyers planning equipment finance should keep the nameplate and serial number records complete.

Inspection checklist — the priorities differ from a full-size excavator, so work through them in this order. One, track type and remaining life: rubber tracks ride well and spare the pavement, but a pair for a 6-tonne machine costs about USD 700-1,100 and must be replaced once cracking reaches the steel cord; on steel tracks, read the chain and roller wear instead. Two, the boom swing pins and cylinder — this is a load path unique to minis, it wears fastest on wall-hugging and trench work, and visible play means the bushings need replacing. Three, slew bearing clearance and swing motor leakage: with a small upper structure and light counterweight, bearing wear shows up as rocking far more obviously than on a big machine. Four, the dozer blade cylinder and cutting edge — a machine habitually used with the blade as a rigid outrigger will show scored rods and internal leakage. Five, pilot hydraulics and joysticks: cross-talk between functions or a single function losing speed usually points at the pilot or main valve. Six, emission tier — Chinese non-road China IV machines built from December 2022 carry SCR and a DEF system, and AdBlue is easy to find in urban Thailand but sparse in upcountry plantation and farming districts, where running dry triggers engine derate; buyers working provincial sites long-term generally prefer China III mechanical or common-rail units with no aftertreatment. Seven, whether the ECM hour record matches the display: hour meters are tampered with more often on minis than on big machines, because the cost of doing it is low and the price is very hour-sensitive.

How we work: we quote DDP to site only — one price covering ocean freight, clearance, duty, VAT and inland haulage — rather than an FOB port price that leaves the buyer carrying clearance and stuffing risk. Every listed machine shows build year, hours, track type and whether it has a dozer blade and breaker lines, and we provide an inspection report and real photographs before shipment. Unit prices in this class are low and buyers frequently take two to four machines at once, so consolidating them into one container cuts freight further, and we plan loading on that basis. We are a matching platform and hold no stock. If you need a 6-tonne mini or anything in the 3.5-8 tonne range, send the model, quantity and destination province and we will quote DDP to site.
